Harvest Day Tea with Reading Buddies

Carter and Grant invited their reading buddies to a Harvest Day Tea in held in their classroom this week. They were gracious hosts- Oh what little gentlemen they were! Serving their friends without even being aked. I wonder how I can get more of that behavior at home...
Jamesy and I came to the tea to take picutes (me) and entertain everyone (James).

Super Seven

Grant wanted a Star Wars cake again for his birthday this year. I know his real wish would be to be in one of those movies! Or at least get to watch them occasionally (Madison and Carter have put a temporary ban on the playing of Star Wars movies bc their sick of them). Happiest of birthday's toothless wonder!!!

Seventh Hole is the lucky one

After drooling through all of Carter's birthday festivities, Grant finally gets to have his birthday wishes come true! A mini-golf party followed by playtime at the house with friends. Grant also won a free game of golf at the end of his game- Yipee Skipee!!!

Me ART

The boys made tissue paper faces of themselves this week during art. I volunteer at their school every Thursday during art so I'll be getting to help with lots of fun projects this year. I'm already missing getting to go into Madison's classroom to help, but that's just not going to happen now that she's in Jr. High. I was tempted to ask her to make a tissue face of herself at home so I could have one for all my older kids but I resisted this nerdy request. I'm proud of myself for suppressing some of my nerdy qualities!

Major Trouble

I didn't get that many pictures of Madison playing soccer this season, but she's probably glad about that because she's been less that thrilled with my photography habit lately. Her team name this season is "Major Trouble" although I think they also could have gone with "Major Attitude".

Goalies are GOOD

Carter's new soccer discovery of the season was that he loves to play the goalie position, which he used to dread doing (he's blocking the ball in the uppermost picture). And though he pays good attention to his games, Carter still manages to discover creepy crawlies druing his games as well.

Grant's First Season Playing Soccer

After watching Madison and Carter's soccer games last year while wearing his cast, Grant asked if he could play soccer too someday. That melted my heart making me crazily say yes and that's why I have 3 kids in soccer this season! Grant has truly turned on the speed for his soccer games and was pleasantly surprised when people were saying how fast he was. Being compared to the speedy Carter-man all these years had made Grant think he was a slow runner, so hearing that he was "fast" was news to him.
He's in a red jersey for the top photo, and white for the rest. In the bottom picture he's with his buddy Josh.

NINE- Last year in the single digits!

Part of the priviledge of becoming 9 in our home is that you get your own pocket knife. Each birthday brings some kind of new responsibility. Some are wanted, and some are dreaded. Carter thought getting his own knife to whittle and carve with was great, but wanted to know what else he "earned" by becoming 9 (as in what will he have to start doing that he doesn't already do- like laundry at 8). Jeremy and I are still thinking this one over and are leaning towards lawn mowing when summer rolls around. We told Carter that his new responsibility might be mowing the lawn this summer and he was excited about it. This can only be because he hasn't done it yet...

Got Slime?

One of Carter's most loved gifts for his birthday this year was a slime making kit. He's had such fun making ooey gooey slime and then managing to gross out everyone in the house by pretending with it.

Carter-Man Party

Carter had a great 9th birthday party with his friends. They played foosball, roasted smores, did scienece experiments, and watched a movie. Once again I heard the qoute famously used by Carter "This is the Best Day EVER!"

Just Kick It

Soccer season is in full swing and I've got the team pictures to prove it. Now if I can only find a way to prevent the boys from kicking balls in the house...

Summer ends- School begins

Why does summer fly by so fast? Why didn't we have more sunshine? Where did all the hours go? Does each summer go by quicker than the last? Is there a way we can petition for summer to last longer? Does anybody ever read my blog?

Oh! All the unaswered questions of my heart! My face looks like Carter's when I think of taking up my chaffuer duties for another school year. I'm still wishing to apparate to get to places...

Carter(3rd) and Grant(1st) will be in the same classroom this year. And Madison is starting Jr. High. James misses his siblings when they're gone at school and doesn't know quite what to do with himself.
